Kepu Petroleum (KEPU) is a company which is ideally placed to service all marine fuels and related product requirements as a fully fledged empowerment entity with the ability to fully meet the requirements of its customers.
KEPU is staffed by oil industry specialists, experienced in the area of trading, shipping, logistics and distribution. The marine fuels marketing business of Kepu Petroleum operates effectively in 14 ports throughout Southern Africa with access to pipelines, barges and storage facilities. In numerous settings, Kepu Petroleum owns the necessary storage facilities and in others it has access to Joint Bunkering Services infrastructure. Organisationally, KEPU is a wholly owned subsidiary of Calulo Investments (Pty) Ltd (Calulo).
Calulo is a fully South African black owned and managed investment company. Calulo was established by Mr Mkhuseli Faku in 1999 to effect meaningful participation of black South Africans in the energy and resources sectors. The company has grown significantly since then, with investment, operational and controlling interests in both the energy and resources sectors, culminating in Mr Faku being awarded the Oil Industry Black Empowerment Businessman of the Year award at the 2004 African Oil and Gas Conference. Mr Faku’s other involvements have included the roles of Deputy Chairman of the African Minerals and Energy Forum, Deputy Chairman of the Nepad Energy Sector Committee and member of the executive committee of the World Petroleum Congress. In recognition of Kepu’s expertise in the marine fuels and related products marketing and in the belief that the sectoral focus brought to bear by Kepu would generate growth, Engen Petroleum Limited outsourced its complete local Marine Fuels Business to KEPU.
